Plugging in my ears..

Because the sound of firecrackers is really annoying. Suddenly out of nowhere a loud bang will set me to tachycardia. Diwali is tomorrow but my college is having really weird holiday schedule.

Well though I never really been out of contact with my family, the thing I miss most is having a conversation over the net with the webcam on. I am glad having whatsapp installed.. like I get their updates 24/7  but I just miss the webcam session.

As of now..

The one place that fascinates me so much in an entirely different way is North Korea. It is interesting to see a country full of people that does not know much about us. The excess to internet is very limited and they are forbidden to travel outside the country. How ridiculous is that? I am not entirely sure whether they knew about Malaysia or not... even some people who have the tools of digging information also doesn't know of the existence of Malaysia. Singapore is better known than Malaysia is.. as far as meeting with strangers they will always say.."ohh Malaysia..the one near Singapore.. or Indonesia"

Anyway, I must one day set foot on North Korea.

It was so awkward speaking in public after years of not doing it. I miss those days really. My coherence in speaking is degrading very much I must say.

being in a self reflective mode again.

Gaddafi is dead
and the one who killed him is an 18 year old.

The ones who used to lead a battle of army back then was 17 years old or even younger. Can't remember really but I knew they were like really young.
but when we were 17 years old, we were so busy finding ourselves..or so they say..

Do you know Sultan Muhammad Al-Fatih was sent away to learn how to govern when he was only 11 years old? What did I do when I was eleven exactly? Main sep tiang or baling selipar, most likely..

Even this little guy has already collected 30 million dollars for charity and he is only 11.

Even now, being a 21 year old, I don't think I have any significant contributions. Pfft..

Monday, 17 October 2011

Going around the hospital today. Monday is officially my exercise day and it's hot like real hot today. Roaming around with a bag behind your back and wearing a thick white coat..uffff.

Something really sad when you see an old man or woman all tied up on a hospital bed, having real difficulty to gasp a breath.. Make me wonder if I ever going to be that way one day.. It is just so sad. Well, you never know the future, right?

Sunday, 16 October 2011

yet another very unproductive sunday.

I am so lazy nowadays.
and procrastination is almost becoming my last name.

I think I should be Cal Lightman. or Patrick Jane. Easy making money like that.

Not that I want to have scarred and horrific past to become like them but you know, their skills are enviable enough.

TGIF tomo!

I guess we forget once in a while. We are mere human. Even things intended to be jokes can bite us back in the back. When we say, "oh someone cannot take a joke" , we really should consider that. Yes living does not mean to please other people but may we not forget that we do not live just to please ourselves too. There are consequences we need to think of. So here's something I found interesting.. and my, I really need to check myself!!

11 Rules In Islam On Joking

Islam is a perfect religion it has set guidelines for everything, in every walk of life. Following the Sunnah of Rasulullah (SAW) is the key to everything and it shows us that Rasulullah (SAW)) used to smile and joke with his companions:
A man came to Rasulullah (SAW) and said: “Give me an animal to ride on” Rasulullah (SAW) replied: “I will give you the son of a female camel”. The man said with astonishment: “What could I do with the son of a female camel?” (Thinking that he would be given a camel too small to ride). Thereupon Rasulullah (SAW) replied: “What do female camels deliver except camels?” (i.e., that every camel, even if it is fully grown, is the product of a female camel!). (Abu Dawud & Tirmidhi).
Remember that there are guidelines to follow, according to the Sunnah, when it comes to joking, laughing and having fun

1) MAKE SURE you don’t make fun of any aspect of Islam:
Jokes should not involve verses from the Qur’aan, hadith, or any of fundamentals of Islam. Unfortunately, some people tell jokes about the verses of the Qur’aan, Prophets, angels, or they make fun of the Hijaab, the beard, etc. This is the most dangerous as it can make a person a Kaafir, EVEN IF YOU ARE ONLY JOKING.
Sheikh Al-‘Uthaymeen said: “One who mocks Allah, His verses, His signs or His Messengers is a disbeliever because this action nullifies belief.”
Rasulullah (SAW) said: “A slave (of Allah) would utter a word, without paying attention to it, which would result in him going down into the Hellfire further than the distance between the east and the west.” (Muslim)
So the sister in the Niqaab is NOT A NINJAA and the brother who shortens his pants or lengthens his beard is NOT A NERD!
Allah says:
“If you ask them, they declare: ‘We were only talking idly and joking.’ Say: ‘Was it at Allah, and His verses and His Messenger that you were mocking? ’Make no excuse; you disbelieved after you had believed” (Surah al-Tawbah 9:65-66)

2) NEVER joke about something that is HARAAM:
Some people, especially the youth living in the western society tend to take the things that are Haraam too lightly and something to joke about. For example, they make jokes about a person being GAY or being ‘high’, having committed zinaa, etc.
Subhaan Allah! We forget that these are things among the worst in the sight of Allah and bring on Allah’s wrath and curse and are certainly NOT things to joke about.

3) Say ONLY that which is true:
Rasulullah (SAW) used to joke but he would only speak the truth.
Someone asked Rasulullah (SAW)): “Do you joke with us?” Rasulullah (SAW) replied: “I do, but I only say that which is true” (Al-Bukhari, Tirmidhi)
If it involves lying and making up stories, then it is not allowed.
Rasulullah (SAW) said, “Woe to the one who speaks and tells a lie in order to make the people laugh at it. Woe to him. Then again, woe to him.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

4) Don’t make jokes to make ‘FUN’ of people:
Be careful that your joking does not hurt anybody’s feelings or harms them in any way. So don’t make those snide remarks or wink behind their backs. Allah says:
“O you who believe! Let not a group ridicule another group, it may be that the latter are better than the former. Nor let (some) women scoff at other women, it may be that the latter are better than the former. Nor defame one another, nor insult one another by nicknames. How bad is it to insult one’s brother after having Faith” (Surah Hujuraat 49:11)

5) Don’t laugh if someone slips or falls or is afflicted with something:
Rasulullah (SAW) said, “Do not express malicious joy towards your brother’s misfortune, for Allah may have mercy on him and you may be stricken by the thing you made fun of.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

6) Never scare anybody while joking or otherwise:
Rasulullah (SAW) said: ‘It is not permissible for a Muslim to frighten another Muslim.’” (Abu Dawud).

7) Joking should not involve backbiting:
Don’t ever joke about others when they are not there, even if you ‘think’ they wouldn’t mind, as it would involve backbiting.
“(Backbiting is) your mentioning about your brother something that he dislikes.” (Muslim)

8) Beware of excessive laughing and joking:
Don’t be like the one who jokes ALL the time. The amount of joking should be like the amount of salt in one’s food, as too much laughing and joking makes the heart hard, distracts one from the remembrance of Allah and makes you lose respect.
Rasulullah (SAW) said: “Do not laugh too much, for laughing too much deadens the heart.” (Sahih al-Jaami)
‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (RA) said: “Whoever laughs too much or jokes too much loses respect, and whoever persists in doing something will be known for it.”

9) Choose appropriate time and place for your jokes:
Some people don’t appreciate the time or place for joking and do so indiscriminately. There is a time and place for everything. For example, what might be amusing at a picnic or at the dinner table might not be so amusing in the middle of a Halaqah.  Sufyaan ibn ‘Uyaynah said, “….. It (joking) is Sunnah, but only for those who know how to do it and do it at the appropriate time.”

10) Use appropriate language:
Some people resort to immoral or obscene language when joking around, even though under ‘normal’ circumstances they would not even think of using such words.  Rasulullah (SAW) said: “The Muslim does not slander, curse, speak obscenely or speak rudely.” (Al-Tirmidhi

11) Acknowledge people’s status:
Some people may joke with everyone indiscriminately, but scholars and the elderly have special positions and rights, so you have to be aware of the character of the person with whom you are dealing. You should also not joke with people whom you do not know or who won’t understand, or it may lead to unpleasantness.
‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Azeez said: “Fear joking, for it is folly and generates grudges.”

Thus we see that Islam is not against jokes. Good humour is part of Islam and Islam does not go against this because it is typically a part of human nature. A Muslim should develop a positive and optimistic personality, and not a gloomy and pessimistic one that is negative towards life.  However, moderation is the key, and it is what distinguishes Muslims from others. We should not  go overboard in our jokes and humour, (or in anything else, for that matter) and if we follow the Sunnah of Rasulullah (SAW) , and his guidance, we will certainly not get lost.
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اصْبِرُوا وَصَابِرُوا وَرَابِطُوا وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
“O you who believe! Be patient, and excel in patience, and remain steadfast and fear Allah, that you may be successful.” (Surah Al-Imran 3:200)

My childhood.

Need I say more?

Tuesday, 11 October 2011

It's really hard coming up with a title that has any connection to whatever I am posting.

I see so many people are graduating now. It's the season of graduating they say. Does it makes me feel small? Yep.. sure it did but I am still trying to enjoy a student's life where work politics will still not be in my book. So, should I be thankful? Yea I should and can still be less responsible than those who will be starting to work. Or is my responsibility is actually more than theirs? Sheesh. I am babbling. Exam is a month a way and there are tonnes to read. I don't know how am I going to cram all these into my head as usual but I will manage somehow... Insya Allah.

Being pointless.

Becoming a Snorlax

Yet another holiday tomorrow. Can't complain on that. How I wish they just compile all these one day- one day holiday into a big fat long week holiday so that I can get back home. Well everyone, Mysore has a new mall. Yeah maybe a tad late but honestly I am grateful. No need for me to travel for 4 hours on the road by bus to go to Bangalore just to buy some stuff. Yep and that will only happen like what? once in 3-4 months? Quite sad for no KFC or McD though. I was really hoping for either of the two to finally be in Mysore. Maybe I should write a letter proposing them to open a new chain here...

Anyhoo, goodnight!

Sunday, 9 October 2011

owhhh I skipped a day..

I don't know why I love old currently I am listening to my newly downloaded Absolute Golden Oldies. My sisters never quite understand my taste of music somehow. Even I don't know. I don't like loud banging music on my ears but I can stand them once in a while. I love musicals very much too. Blame it on my parents since they introduced it to us since we were small. Back when there was no large TV to watch, my Dad used to bring a projector back home and we will watch The Sound of Music together on the big screen.. or wall. I used to be in charge of handling the projector since the rest of the family is too lazy.

Dad even made us (even my mom) watch The Ten Commandments together for the sake of comparing religion. This was the 1965 film, mind you and do you know how freaking long that movie was? They still have that intermission kinda thing in between the film.

Aih, I missed home.

So I'll take the immunisation at home. Well, save me my money than taking it here.
Meanwhile, will there be no increase for us undergrad students living overseas? Heheheheh..

One thing that always made me wonder,

Why budget is translated into bajet? Belanjawan sounds nicer though. This reminded me of a reference book back in school. "Ekselen" .. Can you believe that "ekselen"??!! Come on..

This is madness. It's my 300th post for the past 5 years.
My oh my what have I been rambling on?

To those who don't get the joke, here is a video..

get it? 300? sparta?

Lame I know. But I deserve a monotonous laugh for the effort. And so,  Ha Ha.

Tuesday, 4 October 2011

The line is so slow right now signalling me to go to sleep. Since tomorrow is a holiday and so is the day after, I will not complain or whine about this. Instead I am going to enjoy my time in bliss for not having to wake up very early dreading to go to college for classes.

I am now posted into Medicine department. We'll see whether any interesting cases show up in this coming 2 months. Right now, most of them are COPD and Diabetes cases. Well there's a snake bite case too but the woman really look sick and she was vomiting a lot just now. I always wonder how it feels when people say hearing other people barfing will eventually make you want to barf too. Well now I understand the feeling.

See these elephants.. The drawings on them is the exact design as what I saw in the palace paintings.

I miss you too little brother..

Sunday, 2 October 2011

an epiphany. well not really.

The more you learn, the more you get scared to eat anything in this world. Not just pig beef chicken or fish. Even vegetables too.

Sushi seems scary nowadays. Or salad. Or any raw uncooked food.

Makes me wonder why no food in a pill being marketed yet for those overly conscious health nuts?

Day 10

I found that I tend to forget everything I have learnt.. if not everything, most of them.. and by remembering that, it scares me so much to enter the working world. I imagine at that time everything that I need to know should be at my fingertips. With drugs to prescribe, diseases to be diagnosed, procedures to be done. It's freaking me out really.

Now tell me how to remember all those medical jargon when I totally forgot about the chikus that I bought?
